Christmas Fun

Today in our Cybersmart lesson we were learning how to use our iPads to find images on the web that we can reuse. We had to use the search tools and select creative commons. We could use dictation as well to enter our search items which was a lot quicker than typing the words.

We searched for Christmas images to use as a background. Then we used a green screen and recorded ourselves talking. When we created our movie in iMovies we were able to use the green screen affect. That meant that we could be added to the background without the green screen appearing. 

Our green screen was made of plastic tablecloths pinned to the wall and a reading lamp to light the area. Here is Clem ready to be recorded in our green screen.

Kapa Haka

Today in our Cybersmart lesson we made movies about Kapa Haka. We learned how to save photos on our iPad so we could use them in iMovies. We put titles in and some of use were able to add our title on a coloured bcakground. We recorded our voice in iMovie to narrate our Kapa Haka experience. Here is Dev's movie. Here is Clem's movie.

Me and My Favourite Things

 Today in our Cybersmart lesson we were learning about private and public information. We talked about the sorts of information that we can share online. 

Then we made an iMovie with 3 fun facts about ourselves. We learned how to do a Google image search for Creative Commons images. We used a feature in iMovies called "picture in picture".

Story Writing in Scratch Jnr

We have been creating stories in Scratch Jnr. We have chosen 2 sprites and written the story in Scratch Jnr as well. We had to use coding blocks to make them move and to change the scene.

Disco Beebots

 We have been working on our computational thinking with Beebots. 

Have you used Beebots before? Do you know how to make them move? We used them in class on these grids on the floor and programmed them to move.

We had fun having a Disco with our Beebots.

Tiggy Touch in Scratch Jnr

Today in our Cybersmart lesson we made our sprites have a game of Tiggy Touch. 

We learned how to make the diver sprite look like us by inserting our face into the diver. We learned how to record our voices so we could make our sprites talk. 

Then we l put in the code blocks so they didn't talk at the same time and we used the motion code blocks to make the sprites move.

Under the Sea

Today we were learning how to use Scratch Jnr on our iPads.

Scratch is a coding app that we can use to be creative.

Today we made an underwater scene and added sprites.

We had to make our sprite move in a square.

We have done some computational thinking in class already on creating algorithms and today was a way of creating algorithms to make our sprite move. We had to test and debug lots to do this.

Some of us were able to make 2 sprites move and it looks like they are having a race.
